Service Assisting Male Survivors Of Sexual Assault
The Service Assisting Male Survivors of Sexual Assault (SAMSSA) offers counselling, advocacy, and crisis support to male survivors over the age of 16 in the ACT and surrounding region, and their supporters, to recover from the effects and impacts of sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse.
SAMSSA is a program of the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre. The program is funded by the ACT Government through the Department of Disability Housing & Community Services under the Community Services Program.
We understand that male survivors of sexual violence continue to face unique challenges when seeking support, including pressures arising from social stigma and cultural expectations. In spite of these barriers, we encourage all male survivors to seek support. This will assist in lowering the potential risk of long term impacts of sexual violence trauma - including the impacts of living in isolation.
Whether you experienced an assault recently, or many years ago, our specialised service can support you to get help.
