Education & Training

CRCC provides information, education, and training to community members, and other non-government members, government agencies, service providers and schools about the causes effects and responses to sexual violence against women, children and men. Sessions are designed specifically to meet the needs of the requesting agency. These range from basic sexual assault information to more advanced or specific areas.

  • working with complex trauma where there has been ritualised or severe and numerous traumas

  • Information sessions and talks for school students in the ACT and surrounding region cover:

  • groupwork for young people in schools
  • term long programs on gender and violence for ACT schools or tertiary institutions
  • Rights and Needs of Someone Who Has Been Sexually Assaulted

  • to be believed
  • to be listened to
  • their experience validated as significant
  • to be in control of what happens

  • The Centre also provides training courses for specific sectors of the community in appropriate response to disclosures. These sectors may include Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol, Disabilities, Youth, and Medical Practitioners.

    Sexual Assault Prevention Program for Secondary Schools (SAPPSS)

    In addition to the Community Education Program funded by the ACT Government, CRCC also facilitates the implementation of the Respectful Relationships Sexual Assault Prevention Program for Secondary Schools ( SAPPSS) into 2 ACT schools under a 3 year funding agreement (2009-2012) with CASA House (Centre Against Sexual Violence, Melbourne) through Commonwealth funding.

    Facilitating the SAPPSS program within schools is aimed at preventing sexual assault through education.
